Path of Glimmering Waves

150 x 230cm

2024

The Xikou Shaft along the Tsengwen River inspires this artwork. This key structure diverts water from the Tsengwen River into the Wushantou Reservoir to irrigate the Chianan Plain. The piece uses yarn made from recycled oyster shells, woven into swirling vortex-like patterns using the Loop Weaving technique. Nearly ten thousand milkfish scales are incorporated to recreate the shimmering waves of the Taijiang Inner Sea, while fabric strips dyed with plant-based dyes and salt crystals reflect the cultural and scenic beauty of the Tsengwen River basin.
The entire work employs the imagery of water flow and cycles to reinterpret the interconnected relationship between humans and nature.
